popular tv shows
Sushil Kumar Singh Raghav asked:

Popular TV programs now contain plotlines that cover teenagers’ experiences, feelings, and desires. Some are very sensitive topics and subject matters that include family issues, school and peer pressures. These kinds of programs attract attention to teens because of its informative and reflective topics where they can relate.

One of the popular TV programs teenagers watch these days is the ‘Gossip Girl’. A drama show based from Cecily Von Ziegler’s series of teen books which the show holds the same name as the title of the book and is watched by more than three million teenagers. In this show, the story revolved around among the fortunate high school socialite teenagers living glamorous lives. Some of its story plot deals with addiction, murder, abortion mental instability and self-loathing of teenagers. In this series, the characters of teen socialites are revealed. It shows the different desires, needs, hopes and changing of attitudes of each character. It always leave an impression for teen viewers that made the show successful.

Majority of teenagers like to watch new TV series and shows. They get their information from TV commercials, ads and promos. A survey was conducted and asked teenagers what TV programs or series they wanted to watch. A considerable number of teens chose ‘Gossip Girl’ followed by ‘Pushing Daisies’.

Popular and informative TV programs are viewed by seventy percent of teenagers on its scheduled day and time of showing. Twenty one percent of teenagers record the programs using DVR, VCR or DVD recorders for later watching.

Teenagers rank adult animation on Fox’s Sunday Night lineup as their favorite type of programs, according to findings. CBS ‘King of Queens’ ranked the highest when they were asked what non-returning shows they prefer to be brought back. Most teens can relate in this show because most subject matters of the show are teen-related.

7th Heaven is another popular and educational program for teenagers. The drama series covers the triumphs and sufferings of the Camden family. The drama program is specially designed for the whole family. Some of its subject matters deal with teenager bouts of rebellion and sibling competition with timely social issues and hard situations as they grow up. It is an educational drama series for families with teenagers where they can all relate, reflect and enjoy.

These popular TV programs, especially the drama series, appeal teens nowadays. Subject matters from these shows make teenagers interested in watching them regularly. The stories and issues are well written by writers of these shows that somehow can make teens relate themselves with the show. They learn significant values in these kind TV programs. Then, later after they have seen the show, teens somehow can apply what they have learned from these programs into their own personal lives.

2007 Summer Blockbuster Season Promises Big Screen Bliss

summer movie blockbusters
Random Writers asked:

Summer, as we all know, is the season for movie blockbusters. The summer of 2007 promises to be one of the biggest yet, with several second and third installments of feature film franchises that already have a large following hitting the theaters. From Pirates and Superheroes to animated characters and real life characters who are overly animated, expect a record breaking season that may go down as the highest grossing ever.

Starting things off with a bang is “Spider Man 3”, the Sam Raimi directed prequel to the sixth highest grossing movie of all time, Spiderman. We rejoin the friendly webslinger as he battles a new cache of villains while fighting off the effects of a symbiotic lifeforce that has attached itself to him in the form a new spider-suit.

If superheroes aren’t to your liking, maybe the comedy of Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy in the highly anticipated “Shrek 3” will do the trick. The third film in the series finds Shrek faced with the arduous task of finding someone to fill the recently deceased King of Far, Far Away land’s shoes lest he should have to do it himself. All the main characters from “Shrek 2” return to handle the voicework.

Last years blockbuster, “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Black Pearl”, has set sail for new waters. The third and likely last in the series, tagged “Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End”, is scheduled for release on May 25th and features the reunion of Captain Jack Sparrow and his long lost pirate father, played by none other than Keith Richards.

Steven Soderbergh has once again dragged out the A and B-list for another round of Danny Ocean and company hijinks in “Ocean’s 13”. The latest version finds the crew teaming up with casino boss and enemy Andy Garcia for their biggest job yet.

Whether sequel or prequel, nothing this summer has quite the draw (both literally and figuratively) of “The Simpson’s Movie”. “The Simpsons” are the second longest running television show in history, behind only “The Adventures of Ozzy and Harriet”. Creator Matt Groening promises more of what we know and love, but in the context of a well thought out story.

Last, but certainly not least, is the reunion of east meets west for “Rush Hour 3”. Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan are at it again with a new crime to solve, one which will take them to Paris, among other locations.

Screen Actors Guild Awards a Good Predictor of Academy Award Winners

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008
popular actors
Tuesday Knight asked:

If the past Screen Actors Guild award ceremonies have taught us anything, it’s that influence can never be underestimated. Take last years Academy Award winners, for instance. In 2006, the Screen Actor’s Guild appointed the film Crash (starring Matt Dillon and Sandra Bullock) as the best outstanding performance by an ensemble cast in a motion picture. Crash went on to win the Academy Award for best picture, beating the odds on favorite Ang Lee’s Brokeback Mountain (starring Heath Ledger and Jack Gyllenhaal).

Though actors constitute a small portion of the 6500 plus Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, they do remain influential in the industry as a whole. This is true for both their votes as part of the SAG constituency as well as for their opinions on the productions their peers are involved with. Though they were once without any real voice in the motion picture industry, the right actor is now just as likely to help a project get off the ground as the director or the producer. Films are cast with the movie going public in mind, and those who fill theaters can not only command top dollar, but loosen the pockets of the production companies behind the films as well.

This year, the exclusion of the popular film Dreamgirls (starring Beyonce Knowles, Jennifer Hudson, Eddie Murphy and Jamie Foxx) from the Academy Award nominee list has left industry insiders clamoring for direction. This means that in all likelihood, the SAG awards may hold even more influence than usual. Though Dreamgirls is nominated for best ensemble performance by a cast, there are plenty of other tempting choices for voters this year. Should another film win, its chances of being best picture at the Academy Awards are greatly increased.

Other films nominated for the category include Emilio Estevez’s Bobby (starring Anthony Hopkins, Helen Hunt, Lindsay Lohan, Harry Belafonte, Heather Graham, Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, to name a few, Martin Scorses’s The Departed, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Wahlberg, Matt Damon and Jack Nicholson), the indie film Little Miss Sunshine (starring Greg Kinnear, Steve Carell, Abigal Breslin and Alejandro G as well as “Babel”, a multi-location, interweaving story of love and adversity with a cast of relative unknowns.

Though it’s uncertain as to which film is the definite frontrunner, the film that wins will either gain ground in the race for Best Picture at the Oscars or, in the case of Dreamgirls, solidify the notion that the film was erroneously overlooked.

What website will let me learn and hear popular music of different countries besides the United States?

Nicholas H asked:

I would really like to be able to get into all the different types of popular music from around the world. I feel living here in the U.S. has made closed to different types of music and I am annoyed by it. It seems like in the U.S. you don’t really get the chance to experience music outside of the U.S because they only play music that is well known here. I have friends who came here from college that were able to not only thrive on thier mainstream music but on others aswell and I was jealous that they could listen to our music and others aswell because of thier culture. I just want the chance to experience what else is out there. Doing some searching I have gotten a chance listen to a guy named Akeboshi and he was good but it seems really difficult to find anything else. So if you know of any websites that can give the top global music that would greatly appreciated.
I was looking for a site that is sort of like a yahoo music. That gives details about favorite artist. The radio stations are cool but I wanted to not just listen to songs but learn about the artist aswell. Thanks though.
ohh wow i didnt realize myspace music had a way to browse artist by region and popularity. They even have almost every country. keep the ideas coming though.

Upcoming Summer Movies - Download Movies Online

Thursday, June 19th, 2008
summer movie blockbusters
Juan Valez asked:

Are you a movie buff and looking for things to do for your summer vacation? You are going to be pleased with the upcoming summer movies and the ability to download movies online. This article is going to discuss some of the upcoming summer movies and the ability to download movies online that I personally feel are going to be hits. No matter what genre you like; most likely this summer you will find some movies you will enjoy.

1. Wanted

Film Synopsis from Filmdunia: Based upon Mark Millar’s explosive graphic novel series and helmed by the stunning visualist director Timur Bekmambetov—creator of the most successful Russian film franchise in history, the Night Watch series—Wanted tells the story of one invisible drone’s transformation into a dark avenger. In 2008, the world will be introduced to a superhero for a new millennium: Wesley Gibson. 25-year-old account manager Wes (James McAvoy) was the most pathetic, cube-dwelling hypochondriac the planet had ever known. His boss chewed him out hourly, his girlfriend cheated on him daily and his life plodded on interminably. Everyone was certain this weakling would never amount to anything. There was little else for Wes to do but wile away the days and die a slow, clock-punching death.

Until he met a woman named Fox (Angelina Jolie). After his estranged father is murdered, the deadly **** Fox recruits Wes into the Fraternity, a secret society that trains Wes to avenge his dad’s death by unlocking his dormant powers. As she teaches him how to develop lightning-quick reflexes and phenomenal agility, Wes discovers this team lives by an ancient, unbreakable code: carry out the death orders given by fate itself. With wickedly brilliant tutors—including the Fraternity’s enigmatic leader, Sloan (Morgan Freeman)—Wes grows to enjoy all the strength he ever wanted. But, slowly, he begins to realize there is more to his dangerous associates than meets the eye. And as he wavers between newfound heroism and vengeance, Wes will come to learn what no one could ever teach him: he alone controls his destiny.

First of all we all love Angelina Jolie; I have personally loved all the movies she has acted in. I must admit I am a bit partial to her because of her looks; but then who isn’t. Wanted is going to be coming out at the movies on June 27th and I personally think it is going to be one of my favorites of the upcoming summer movies.

2. Wall-E

Film Synopsis from Filmdunia: After hundreds of lonely years of doing what he was built for, WALL•E (short for Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class) discovers a new purpose in life (besides collecting knick-knacks) when he meets a sleek search robot named EVE. EVE comes to realize that WALL•E has inadvertently stumbled upon the key to the planet’s future, and races back to space to report her findings to the humans (who have been eagerly awaiting word that it is safe to return home). Meanwhile, WALL•E chases EVE across the galaxy and sets into motion one of the most exciting and imaginative comedy adventures ever brought to the big screen.

Joining WALL•E on his fantastic journey across a universe of never-before-imagined visions of the future, is a hilarious cast of characters including a pet cockroach, and a heroic team of malfunctioning misfit robots.

If you loved Monsters Inc.. then in my personal opinion I think this is going to be another of Pixar’s winners. This film is not only going to be a winner for kids; but it is also going to be a winner for adults everywhere. It is going to be cute and endearing; and we all know that everyone loves cute and endearing.

3. Hancock

Film Synopsis from MoviePhone: There are heroes… there are superheroes… and then there’s Hancock (Will Smith). With great power comes great responsibility — everyone knows that — everyone, that is, but Hancock. Edgy, conflicted, sarcastic, and misunderstood, Hancock’s well-intentioned heroics might get the job done and save countless lives, but always seem to leave jaw-dropping damage in their wake. The public has finally had enough — as grateful as they are to have their local hero, the good citizens of Los Angeles are wondering what they ever did to deserve this guy. Hancock isn’t the kind of man who cares what other people think — until the day that he saves the life of PR executive Ray Embrey (Jason Bateman), and the sardonic superhero begins to realize that he may have a vulnerable side after all. Facing that will be Hancock’s greatest challenge yet — and a task that may prove impossible as Ray’s wife, Mary (Charlize Theron), insists that he’s a lost cause. -

I am not sure what to think of this new and upcoming Will Smith movie. I think it is going to be a flop; however I will be watching it because it is Will Smith and I am a huge fan of his.

With these hot movies coming out this summer and the ability to download all the latest blockbuster hits online you are definitely going to want to grab a bowl of popcorn and sit back and relax and enjoy your movies online.

Actress/mathematician Danica Mckellar’s Book "math Doesn’t Suck" Helps Girls Appreciate Their Minds

Brian Foley asked:

The notions that “girls can’t do math,” “math sucks,” and “you can’t be cool if you’re smart” are pernicious myths that hurt women as well as society in general. Danica McKellar’s new book, “Math Doesn’t Suck” does it’s best to explode all of those generalizations.

McKellar, best known as “Winnie” on the eighties TV show “The Wonder Years’” is not only a respected working actress, but an accomplished mathematician as well. Her new book, “Math Doesn’t Suck,” was written to help middle-school age girls learn math without negatively affecting their popularity.

“I want to see girls embrace math who never thought they could, and for them to understand the importance of developing a strong mind. Math is a fabulous mind strengthener - it’s like going to the gym, for your brain!” said actress/mathematician Danica McKellar in an interview with epidemiologist and blogger Tara C. Smith.

Ms. McKellar is also know for her roles in “Inspector Mom,” “The West Wing,” “How I Met Your Mother,” “Walker, Texas Ranger,” “Babylon5,” and “NCIS,” as well as having done voices on video games, like “X-Men Legends.”

Although best know for her role as co-star and puppy-love interest to Fred Savage’s character as “Kevin” on the popular “The Wonder Years” sitcom, about growing up smack in the middle of the baby-boom years, Ms. McKellar understandably doesn’t want to be pigeonholed as “that child actress from that old TV series.”

After the series ended, when other actresses might have decided to pursue their acting career at the expense of their educations, McKellar enrolled at UCLA, where she later attained her Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics, summa *** laude. She has spoken at Rutgers University’s biannual Statistical Mechanics conference, and she was featured in the Science section of the NY Times.

In mathematical trivia, she is one of the only people in the world to have a finite ErdÅ‘s–Bacon number, which is a person’s degree of professional separation between the mathematician Paul ErdÅ‘s and the actor Kevin Bacon.

Helping young women escape the “girls-can’t-do-math” stereotype is a passion for McKellar. She not only encourages them learn math to improve their brains, but she helps them realize that they still can be as feminine as they want to be while being smart. It’s painful to still have to say it in the twenty-first century, but being smart does not have to make you un-cool.

In an era when so many actresses are getting publicity from one scandal after another, Ms. McKellar is a unique beacon in a sea of negative female role models. She even got a chance to speak to Congress about math and education in America’s middle schools and high schools.

Women have always suffered from a gender-bias in math, and McKellar wants to do something about it. Besides serving as a role model as a working actress, and as a mathematician who has co-authored the “Chayes-McKellar-Winn Theorem” (concerning mathematical physics), she helps to raise money for children with cancer at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, tutors in math on her website, and is the national spokesperson for Math-a-Thon.

Don’t think she’s trying to create female nerds, though. Ms. McKellar has also done some sexy, but tasteful, modeling that is proof positive that girls can be glamorous and popular, as well as smart. This seems like an entirely new take on “A Beautiful Mind.”

O.c. Actress Lands the Cover of Elle UK

Groshan Fabiola asked:

Since her character was killed off at the end of the penultimate season of The O.C., Mischa Barton has strung up several big screen projects due to be released in the last quarter of this year. Among her upcoming movies are Closing the Ring, Virgin Territory, Don’t Fade Away and St. Trinian’s. She is also scheduled to appear in Finding t.A.T.u., Malice in Sunderland and Assassination of a High School President.

The former O.C. star is also the cover model for the August issue of Elle in the United Kingdom. The magazine also features an article on Barton’s rise to popularity, reported party girl persona and relations to Hollywood bad girls like Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan.

“It is a persona. It’s not me. I think, ‘Who the hell is that girl?’ I’m so low-key and chilled. But the media has created a fake ‘Young Hollywood’ where everyone hangs out together and everybody knows each other. It couldn’t be further from the truth. I feel so, so different from those girls,” Mischa Barton told Elle magazine.

The 21-year old actress also confessed to struggling with fame when she was catapulted to stardom after being cast on The O.C. at the tender age of 17.

“When I got there I didn’t know anything about the business, and you don’t make the best of friends. You make a few mistakes when you’re that age and it took me a while to find the friends I needed, to be truly comfortable…Fame isn’t that exciting to me. I don’t think it’s something to be fighting for. I want a career. I don’t get that thing of standing outside a famous restaurant, waiting to be photographed. I can’t do that. I’ve found a very happy place - I know what I want to do, and I’m excited about the projects I’m developing. That’s what I’m trying to concentrate on,” Barton continued.

Mischa Barton is clearly dead set on becoming a serious actress and not a mere celebrity. She is currently busy with her Shakespeare studies at the Royal Academy for Dramatic Art (RADA) in London.
